The Editio Critica Maior documents the Greek textual history of the first millennium as documented in the most important Greek manuscripts, ancient translations, and New Testament quotations in ancient Christian literature. It not only provides the oldest accessible text of the New Testament, but also serves to answer broader questions: How does a text change throughout history, and why? How was a text received in early Christianity? This volume provides the Acts of the Apostles. The original biblical text has been reconstructed with the help of a newly developed methodology, resulting in 52 changes. The volume is published in three parts: The first part, consisting of two books, offers the text including a clearly structured, extensive text-critical apparatus. The second part contains supplementary material that relieve the text-critical apparatus. Finally, the third part offers a commentary on selected variants as well as studies on early translations and patristic tradition.
